Huff Post Live by waiter | Sep 26, 2012 | Uncategorized | 6 comments I participated in a fun panel on tipping at Huff Post Live. You can find it archived here. Enjoy. Man I look pasty! 6 Comments Cathy on September 27, 2012 at 9:48 am Still shows how little people know about tipping. Maybe servers will have to start going door to door! Reply Nathan Partyka on November 8, 2012 at 9:10 am Being pale isn’t bad, it’s when you become translucent that you should be concerned. I feel that a lot of people who “don’t know” how to tip are just playing dumb, they know how to tip but they think they can get away without doing it if they just claim ignorance. In a much more perfect world it will be understood, maybe one day. Reply Todd Krejci on December 19, 2012 at 12:46 am Emerson wrote a thesis titled “the law of compensation” It is a universal truth whether you believe it or not. I suggest you know it and share it. I will sum up a 15 pager to this:there is nothing in this world that is all god or all bad. Every good thing has something bad. Every bad thing has something good. There is nothing in your life that you do good or bad that will not come back to you. It sounds like karma or Golden rule. In a certain sense it is. But it is not spiritual or even about doing what is right because its right. It simply defines the universe will return what you put out. I am no Emerson, so my quick fact about what it is “pales” in comparison to Emersons law. BTW I thoroughly enjoy you blog posts and I share it with others. Reply Eileen on January 24, 2013 at 4:16 pm Steve – I just finished reading Waiter Rant and loved it, which is what brought me to your site. In response to this blog: People are incredibly cheap and greedy, and as you have pointed out in your book, the way they behave in a restaurant is indicative of how they behave out in “the real world”. PS – I don’t think you look pasty, but I can totally picture you in a priest’s collar! Reply Juan Q on February 7, 2013 at 1:31 pm I don’t know man 25% seems a bit steep. don’t get me wrong i’m a former waiter and good tipping was very appreciated. but expecting 25% tipping is too dam greedy. You know a whole lot its almost hard to argue with you (not that I actually will need to…HaHa). You certainly put a new spin on a subject which has been discussed for many years. Wonderful stuff, just excellent! Reply Submit a Comment Cancel reply Your email address will not be published.
