Waiter Rant: Thanks for the Tip – Confessions of a Cynical Waiter will spend another week on the New York Times Bestseller List. We even went up a notch! How cool is that?
I’m almost finished with your book (I just picked it up this afternoon). I have to say that I had a hell of a time finding it in stock. Booksellers were not ready for the awesomeness that is waiterrant!

Very cool. My spouse is reading it now, and the other night he told me he was glad I am a good tipper. His ex would never leave more than 5%.
The bitch.
It’s because I just bought the book off of Amazon, isn’t it? 😉
real cool waiter…
Congratulations! I have been reading you for years, and can’t wait to get the book.
Congratulations, Waiter 🙂
quality….
Congratulations! It’s well deserved.
I just finished reading the book, and then had to go and re-read all your post-book blog posts … Excellent work!
Read the book. Great read. I am passing it to my server friends to see their reactions.
You deserve it! Awesome book.
Grah! So why is it that none of the Borders or Waldenbooks in my area have them in stock yet?! I went to get it three days ago (finally had enough $ and a great coupon) and our tiny Waldenbooks said they didn’t have any yet. I said I’d go to the Borders the next city over (it’s huge) and he said no one in the area seemed to have it in yet.
I’d love to contribute to your success, but I can’t seem to find the book yet!
Congrats anyhow!
I picked up the last copy they had at my local Barnes and Noble on Friday; by Saturday, I had finished. I find your book to be an absolute treasure just as I had felt when I first found your blog. Congratulations to you on your success!!!
I got my copy today and have read the first six chapters. Congratulations on your success. My brother works the other side of the house. I’ll have to ask him if the restaurant industry is the same here in Idaho. (Yes, we have excellent restaurants here. He’s currently working here: http://www.idahorocky.com/.)
Finally! I have my copy! I bought it today at Barnes and Noble. I will start reading it tonight at bedtime.
Now when you come to Albuquerque (HINT! HINT!) you can autograph it for me. 🙂
So glad I pre-ordered!
I’m so proud for you, Waiter. It’s so cool opening up my mags and reading/seeing you.
I’m waiting for the book to be shipped all the way to Malaysia. I’m so excited!!!!!!!!!
Congratulations!!!! I wish my freakin bookstore had your book in stock! sheesh!
Hey! I think this was your 500th post!
Congrats on everything! You deserve it. =)
BTW – HC – OMG – TR – LOL – we’ll always be BFF!
Congratulations! I can’t wait to read the book 🙂
Devoured your book in two days; been a regular reader for the last year. Frankly, I pictured you as Nick Cage. I don’t know if that’s a compliment or what. In any event, congratulations. You are a living testament to risk and reward, and to never letting go of that which you love. Well done.
Your writing is absolutely amazing. I’ve been reading every single post from the beginning up to September 2005 where I’ve just stopped (reading your post on Legions was amazing).
I’d like to congratulate you on your best seller’s ranking. I have yet to read the book but I’m planning on buying it tomorrow or the day after and know that it will be money well spent (about time I don’t regret a purchase =P)
Your writing is very intriguing and your stories, even as they portray those bad customers, still showcase a lot of a-ha! moments that have me longing to become a waiter.
Waiter, congrats on the NYT list! I’m going to pick up your book when I get home next week, and spend some days on the beach reading it.
Have you decided what your next adventure in life is going to be once the book touring is done?
Waiter! I’m so happy you’re on the best seller’s list again! Do you think after all this fame you’ll be able to sit at the dog park in peace? I hope so!
Just finished it last night – loved it!
Hi Stephen,
Would love to interview you on my radio show – please email me if you’d like to set something up! Thanks

Now you need to get a job as a restaurant manager so you can write a book from that point of view.
“So, you want an extra day off because you are going out of town with your girlfriend?”
ummmmm. Should I grant it after you called off during our last busy weekend, leaving the floor short?
Something like that….
Congrats Waiter….couldn’t happen to a nicer blogger! Yours was the first blog I ever read (before I really knew what blogs were…) You deserve it! Now – when are you going to offer signed copies for sale? 🙂
Just wanted you to know that I LOVED your book. I got it just in time to take it with me on a trip this weekend. Needless to say, I finished it that first day. I’ll miss the updates to the website, but hopefully, you can find some other subjects to delight us with.
That’s wonderful! Just out of sheer academic curiosity, is the NY Times or your publisher telling you how that translates into actual units sold over the course of a week?
I was reading The Week magazine this morning or who should I see over in a side bar, but my favorite waiter? Did you know that you are the “Author of the Week” in this mag?

Good job, Steve – all the power to you! So glad this is going well for you
Hey waiter!
Loved the book, all my co-workers are trying to get their grubby little hands on my copy. I borrowed it from the library where I was the 2nd hold out of 45!
Just a note, filling a waiters section all at once in ANY restaurant isn’t cool. Not even at a Denny’s. We still have to provide great service, some people believe they are dining at “the bistro” when they are only at Denny’s. As you know, we have to let them live that illusion if we want any tip money.
AMAZING BOOK regardless. You are a very intelligent, clever, caring and observant man who deserves all the success in the world.
You are more than a waiter.
Can’t wait for the next book.
My store is contributing you are on the front table and I have sold a bunch of copies. If you are in the boston area please let me know and we will set up a signing. Congrats on the second week in a row and when they re-print the second edition make sure they add New York Times Bestseller to the cover- its a good feeling I am sure!

Dude, that is too awesome! ‘Grats!
I haven’t picked up my copy yet (mostly due to the fact that I spent my splurge money on a dress this month, if you saw this dress you would totally understand), but I will soon. I did, er, leaf through it at the local Borders. From what I read, it’s great.
Admit it, though — the best part of this is that now, when you hit on chicks in bars, you can say “I’m a bestselling author.”
Congrats to you, Waiter Steve. =) What AWESOME news!! Funny how Everyone seems to share the sentiment of ‘we knew you way back when…’ lol. Thank you for doing what you do so amazingly well, and please keep entertaining all of us! 😉
Waiter, I just finished the story about “Mad Cow.” You had me in tears, I was laughing so hard! Freaking foodies!
Thank you again for some of the most entertaining words I’ve read in a very long time.
IHOP?
Worst. Servers. Ever.
Nice work, waiter! Congratulations!
Waiter, I just keep waiting for you to write about something other than how successful you are being. Or is waiterrant really dead?
Congratulations! I’ve long enjoyed the blog, and thoroughly enjoyed the book. Well done!
The audiobook version still sucks. Not the content, just the quality. Now I have to go and buy the book too, since I can’t listen to that trash recording. Waiter scores double.
Got the book, and it’s excellent. I had thought it would be just the postings on the website, but there is a LOT more in there.
Excellent job, Waiter, you should be proud. Hope the book gets you to where you want to be.
thanks for the book, waiter – read it over a holiday weekend and enjoyed it enormously. now get back on the floor, we want more war stories.
